그 땅의 백성이 그들 중 한 명을 택하여 그들의 파수병으로 세워서 그가 그 땅에 오는 칼을 보고
뿔나팔을 불어 그 백성에게 경고했는데도 뿔나팔소리를 들은 사람이 주의하지 않아
칼이 와서 그를 취하면 그의 피가 자기 머리에 있으니
그 뿔나팔소리를 그가 듣고도 주의하지 않았으므로 그의 피가 그에게 있을 것이다.
그의 주의했으면 자기 목숨을 건졌을 것이다.
그러나 그 파수병이 칼이 오는 것을 보고도 뿔나팔을 불지 않아
그 백성이 주의하지 않았으므로 그 칼이 와서 그중 한 목숨을 취했으면 그는 자기 죄악으로 인하여 취해졌지만,
그의 피는 그 파수병의 손에서 내가 구할 것이다.
너 인자야, 내가 너를 이스라엘 집의 파수병으로 주었으니
너는 내 입의 말을 듣고 그들을 내게서 조심하게 하여라.
내가 악인에게 '악인아, 너는 정녕 죽을 것이다.'라고 말할 때
네가 악인에게 그의 길로부터 조심하도록 말하지 않으면, 그는 악인이라,
그의 죄악으로 인하여 그는 죽을 것이나 그의 피를 네 손에서 나는 찾을 것이다.
그러나 네가 악인에게 그의 길로부터 돌아서라고 경고했는데도
그가 그의 길로부터 돌아서지 않으면 그는 자기 죄악으로 인하여 죽을 것이나 너는 네 목숨을 구할 것이다.
그러니, 너 인자야, 이스라엘 집에게 일러라. 이렇게 너는 일러라.
"우리 범죄들과 우리 죄들이 우리에게 있어 우리가 그것들 때문에 파리해져 있으니 어떻게 우리가 살 수 있을까?
그들에게 일러라. '내가 사는 한, -주 (YHUH)יהוה의 말씀-
나는 악인이 죽는 것을 기뻐하지 않고 악인이 그의 길에서 돌이켜 사는 것을 기뻐한다.
그러니 너희 악한 길들로부터 돌이키고 돌이켜라.
왜 너희가 죽을 것이냐 , 이스라엘집아?'
너 인자야, 네 백성의 자손에게 일러라.
'의인의 범죄하는 날에는 그 의인의 의가 그를 구하지 못할 것이고 악인이 그의 악에서 돌이키는 날에는
그 악인의 악으로 그가 넘어지지 않을 것이다. 의인이 죄짓는 날에 그는 그것 때문에 살 수 없을 것이다.'
내가 의인에게 '그는 정녕 살 것이다.'라고 말할 때
그가 자기 의를 의지하고 불의를 행하면 그의 모든 의는 기억되지 않을 것이고 그가 행한 불의로 인하여 그는 죽을 것이다.
내가 악인에게 '너는 정녕 죽을 것이다.'라고 말할 때
악인이 자기 죄로부터 돌아서서 공의와 의를 행하여 담보물을 돌려주고 강탈한 것을 갚으며
생명의 규례들대로 걸어가서 불의를 행하지 않아면 그는 정녕 살고 죽지 않을 것이다.
그가 지은 모든 죄가 기억되지 않으리니 공의와 의를 그가 행하면 그는 정녕 살 것이다.
네 백성의 자손은 주님의 길이 바르지 않다고 말하나 사실은 그들의 길이 바르지 않다.
의인이 그의 의로부터 돌아서서 불의를 행하면 그는 그것들 때문에 죽는다.
그러나 악인이 그의 악으로부터 돌아서서 공의와 의를 행하면 그것들 때문에 그는 살 것이다.
너희는 주님의 길이 바르지 않다고 말하나 각 사람은 그의 길대로 내가 너희를 심판할 것이다, 이스라엘 집아."
우리가 유배된 지 제십이 년 열째 달 오 일에 예루샬라임에서 도망 나온 자가 내게 와서 말하였다. "그 성이 함락되었습니다."
그 도망 나온 자가 오기 전날 저녁에 (YHUH)יהוה의 손이 내게 있었다.
그래서 그가 아침에 내게 오기까지 그가 내 입을 여셨다. 내 입을 열려서 더 이상 내가 잠잠하지 않았다.
(YHUH)יהוה의 말씀이 내게 있었다.
"인자야, 이스라엘 땅에 있는 이 황무한 곳들의 주민들이 말한다.
'아브라함은 한 명이었는데도 이 땅을 차지했다. 우리는 많으니 우리에게 이 땅이 소유로 주어질 것이다.'
그러므로 그들에게 일러라.
-주 (YHUH)יהוה께서 이렇게 말씀하셨다.-
너희가 피와 함께 먹으며 너희 눈을 너희 우상들에게 들어 올리고 피를 흘리면서 이 땅을 차지하려 한다.
너희는 너희 칼을 믿고 서서 가증한 짓을 행하며 각자 이웃의 아내를 부정하게 하면서 이 땅을 차지하려 한다.
너는 그들에게 이렇게 일러라.
-주 (YHUH)יהוה께서 이렇게 말씀하셨다.-
내가 사는 한, 그 황무한 곳에 있는 자들은 칼에 쓰러질 것이고 들에 있는 자들은 짐승에게 먹이로 내가 줄 것이고
요새들과 동굴들에 있는 자들은 전염병에 죽을 것이다.
내가 그 땅을 황폐하고 두렵게 만들어 그녀의 자랑스러운 힘이 그치리니
이스라엘 산들이 황폐하여 지나가는 자가 없을 것이다.
그들이 행한 그들의 모든 가증함 때문에 내가 그 땅을 황폐하고 두렵게 할 때 그들은 내가 (YHUH)יהוה인 줄 알 것이다.
너 인자야, 네 백성의 자손이 벽들 옆에서와 집들 입구에서 너에 관하여 서로 형제끼리 말한다.
"자, 가서 (YHUH)יהוה께로부터 나오는 그 말씀이 무엇인지를 듣자.'라고 하며 그들이 백성이 오는 것처럼
네게 와서 내 백성이 네 앞에 앉아서 네 말을 들으나 그것들을 행하지는 않으리니
이는 그들의 입에는 열정이 있어도 그들은 그들 마음의 불의한 이익을 따라 행하며 걸어가기 때문이다.
보라, 너는 그들에게 아름다운 목소리와 좋은 연주로 열정적인 노래를 하는 가수처럼 여겨질 것이다.
그들이 네 말을 들으나 그들이 그것들을 행하지는 않는다.
그 일이 올 때 -보라, 그 일이 온다!-
그들이 그들 가운데 예언자가 있었다는 것을 알 것이다."

33:1 Again the word of YHWH came unto me, saying,
33:2 Son of man, speak to the children of thy people, and say unto them, When I bring the sword upon a land, if the people of the land take a man of their coasts, and set him for their watchman:
33:3 If when he seeth the sword come upon the land, he blow the trumpet, and warn the people;
33:4 Then whosoever heareth the sound of the (Shofar) trumpet,
and taketh not warning; if the sword come, and take him away,
his blood shall be upon his own head.
33:5 He heard the sound of the trumpet,
and took not warning, his blood shall be upon him.
But he that taketh warning shall deliver his soul.
33:6 But if the watchman see the sword come,
and blow not the trumpet,
and the people be not warned; if the sword come,
and take any person from among them,
he is taken away in his iniquity,
but his blood will I require at the watchman's hand.
33:7 So thou, O son of man, I have set thee a watchman unto the house of Israel, therefore thou shalt hear the word at My mouth,
and warn them from Me.
33:8 When I say unto the wicked, O wicked man, thou shalt surely die, if thou dost not speak TO warn the WICKED FROM his WAY,
that wicked man shall die in his iniquity,
but his blood will I require at thine hand.
33:9 Nevertheless, if thou warn the wicked of his way to turn from it; if he do not turn from his way, he shall die in his iniquity; but thou hast delivered thy soul.
33:10 Therefore, O thou son of man, speak unto the house of Israel, Thus ye speak, saying, If our transgressions and our sins be upon us,
and we pine away in them, how should we then live?
33:11 Say unto them, As I live, saith the Sovereign YHWH, I have no pleasure in the death of the wicked, but that the wicked turn from his way and live:
TURN ye, TURN ye from your evil ways; for why will ye die, O house of Israel?
33:12 Therefore, thou son of man, say unto the children of thy people,
The righteousness of the righteous --- shall not deliver him in the day of his transgression: ---- as for the wickedness of the wicked, --- he shall not fall thereby in the day that he turneth from his wickedness; neither shall the righteous be able to live for his righteousness in the day that he sinneth.
33:13 When I shall say to the righteous, that he shall surely live,
if he trust to his own righteousness,
and commit iniquity,
all his righteousnesses shall not be remembered,
but for his iniquity that he hath committed,
he shall die for it.
33:14 Again, when I say unto the wicked, Thou shalt surely die, if he turn from his sin, and do that which is lawful and right.
33:15 If the wicked restore the pledge, give again that he had robbed, walk in the statutes of life, without committing iniquity; he shall surely live, he shall not die.
33:16 None of his sins that he hath committed shall be mentioned unto him: he hath done that which is lawful and right; he shall surely live.
33:17 Yet the children of thy people say:
The way of YHWH is not equal:
but as for them, --> their way IS NOT not equal.
33:18 When the righteous turneth from his righteousness,
and committeth iniquity, he shall even die thereby.
33:19 But if the wicked turn from his wickedness, and do that which is lawful and right, he shall live thereby.
33:20 Yet ye say:
The way of YHWH is not equal.
O ye house of Israel,
I will JUDGE EVERY ONE of you -- after his ways.
33:21 And it came to pass in the twelfth year of our captivity, in the tenth month, in the fifth day of the month, that one that had escaped out of Jerusalem came unto me, saying, The city is smitten.
33:22 Now the hand of YHWH was upon me in the evening, afore he that was escaped came; and had opened my mouth, until He came to me in the morning; and my mouth was opened, and I was no more....
33:23 Then the word of YHWH came unto me, saying:
33:24 Son of man, they that inhabit those wastes of the land of Israel speak, saying, Abraham was one, and he inherited the land: but we are many; the land is given us for inheritance.
33:25 Wherefore say unto them, Thus saith the Sovereign YHWH; Ye eat with the blood, and lift up your eyes toward your idols, and shed blood: and shall ye possess the land?
33:26 Ye stand upon your sword,
ye work abomination,
and ye defile every one his neighbour's wife:
and shall ye possess the land?
33:27 Say thou thus unto them,
Thus saith the Sovereign YHWH, As I live:
surely they that are in the wastes • shall fall by the sword,
and him that is in the open field -- will I give to the beasts • to be devoured,
and they that be in the forts • and in the caves • shall die of the pestilence.
33:28 For I will lay the land most desolate,
and the pomp of her strength shall cease,
and the mountains of Israel shall be desolate,
that none shall pass through.
33:29 Then shall they know that I am YHWH,
when I have laid the land most desolate • because of all
their abominations which they have committed.
33:30 Also, thou son of man:
the CHILDREN of thy people still --> ARE TALKING AGAINST THEE by the walls •• and IN THE doors of the HOUSES, and speak one to another, every one to his brother, saying: Come, I pray you, and hear what is the word that cometh forth from YHWH.
33:31 And they come unto thee as the people cometh,
and they sit before thee •• "as My people" •• and they hear thy words,
but THEY will not do them: . . . . . . for with their "mouth" they "shew much love", BUT THEIR heart GOETH after their covetousness.
33:32 And, lo, thou art unto them As a very lovely song • of one that hath a pleasant voice, • and can play well on an instrument • for they hear thy words, but they do them not.
33:33 And when this cometh to pass, (lo, it will come,) then shall they know that a prophet hath been among them.
