새잡는 자의 손에서 벗어나는 새처럼 자신을 구하여라.

내 아들아, 만일 네가 네 이웃을 위하여 보증을 서고 이방인을 위하여 손뼉을 치면(보증을 서면) 너는 네 입의 말들로 인하여 함정에 빠졌으니 반드시 이것을 행하여라, 내 아들아. 그리하여 너 자신을 구하여라. 참으로 네가 네 이웃의 손안에 들어갔으니 가서 간절하게 네 이웃에게 간청하여라.

네 눈에 잠을 주지 말고 네 눈꺼풀이 졸리게 하지 마라.

사냥꾼의 손에서 벗어나는 노루처럼 자신을 구하고 새잡는 자의 손에서 벗어나는 새처럼 자신을 구하여라.

개미에게 가거라, 게으른 자야. 그 개미의 길들을 보고 지혜로워라. 그것에게는 지도자가 없고, 사무관도 통치자도 없다. 그것은 여름에 자기 빵을 준비하고 추수 때 자기 먹을 것을 모은다.

게으른 자야, 언제까지 네가 누워 있으려느냐? 언제 네가 네 잠에서 일어나려느냐? '조금만 더 자자. 조금만 더 졸자. 조금만 더 손을 포개고 누워 있자.' 하니 네 빈곤이 걸어 다니는 자처럼 오고 네 궁핍이 염치없는 사람처럼 올 것이다.

불량한 사람, 불의한 사람, 굽은 말을 하며 다니는 자, 그의 눈을 껌벅거리며 그의 발로 신호를 하며 그의 손가락들로 지적하는 자, 그들의 마음에는 패역함이 있고 언제나 악을 꾀하여 분쟁을 일으킨다. 그러므로 갑자기 재난이 와서 별안간 그가 부러지나 치료자가 없다.

(YHUH)יהוה께서 미워하시는 여섯 가지가 있고 그가 가증히 여기시는 일곱 가지가 있다.

교만한 눈(높은 눈), 거짓 혀, 죄 없는 피를 흘리는 손, 불의한 생각들을 꾀하는 마음, 악으로 달리기를 빨리하는 발, 거짓말로 증언하는 거짓 증인, 형제들 사이에 분쟁을 일으키는 자다.

내 아들아, 네 아버지의 명령을 지키고 네 어머니의 가르침을 버리지 마라. 네 마음에 항상 그것들을 묶고 네 목에 그것들을 매어라. 네가 걸어 다닐 때 그것이 너를 인도하고 네가 누울 때 그것이 너를 지키며 네가 깰 때 그것이 너를 가르치게 하여라.

참으로 그 명령은 등불이고, 그 가르침은 빛이며 훈계의 책망은 생명의 길이니

너를 악한 여자에게서 지키며 이방 여자의 매끄러운 혀로부터 지킬 것이다. 그녀의 아름다움을 네 마음속으로 탐내지 말고 그녀의 눈길에 사로잡히지 마라. 참으로 창녀 삯은 빵 한 덩어리이나 남편 있는 여자는 귀한 목숨을 사냥할 것이다.

사람이 그의 품에 불을 가졌는데 어찌 그의 옷이 살라지지 않겠느냐? 사람이 숯불 위로 걸어가면 그의 발이 불에 타지 않겠느냐?

그의 이웃의 여자에게 들어가는 자는 그와 같으니 그녀를 건드리는 모든 자는 무사하지 못할 것이다.

굶주릴 때 배를 채우려고 도둑질하는 도둑은 멸시받지 않으나 그가 발견되면 일곱 배를 갚아야 하니 자기 집의 모든 재물을 주어야 할 것이다.

여자와 간음하는 자는 생각이 부족한 사람이다. 그는 자신을 파멸시키는 일을 하고 있으니 폭행과 수치를 만나고 그의 비난이 지워지지 않을 것이다.

이는 남편의 질투가 불같이 타올라 그의 보복의 날에 사정을 봐 주지 않으며 어떤 속전에도 고개를 들지 않고 예물이 아무리 많아도 합의하려고 하지 않을 것이기 때문이다.

잠언6장

Proverbs 6:1-35:
¶ MY son, if you have become surety for your friend, if you have obligated yourself to a stranger:

Then you are snared with the words of your mouth, you are caught with the words of your lips.

Do This now, my son, and deliver yourself,
because for the sake of your friend:
you have fallen into the hands of your Enemies.

GO, Therefore, and stir up your friend:
for whom you have become surety to meet his obligation.

You shall not give sleep to your eyes nor slumber to your eyelids.

Deliver yourself like a gazelle from the snare,
and like a bird from the hand of the fowler.

¶ Be like the ant, consider her ways, and be wise,
Though having no harvest and no ruler over her,
neither any one to guide her.
She provides her bread in the summer
and gathers her food in the harvest (katzir).

How long will you sleep, O sluggard?
When will you arise from your sleep?

Yet a little sleep,
a little slumber,
a little folding of the hands,
on the chest.

And then — poverty shall come upon you,
and distress shall overtake you,
become a successful man.

¶ A fool, a wicked man, is unscrupulous.

He winks with his eyes,
he signals with his feet,
he makes signs with his fingers.
He is perverse in his heart,
he devises mischief continually,
he sows discord.

Therefore his calamity,
shall come suddenly,
suddenly will he be broken,
without remedy.

There are six things which YHVH hates:
yea, the seventh is an abomination to Him:
Haughty eyes,
a lying tongue,
and hands that shed innocent blood.

A heart that devises wicked imaginations,
feet that are swift in running to mischief.
A false witness who speaks lies,
and he who sows discord among brothers.

¶ My son, keep your father’s commandment
and do not forsake the law of your mother.

Impress them firmly on your heart
and tie them about your neck.

When you walk, let them follow you,
let them be with you,
keep them that they may keep you,
and when you awake, meditate on them.

For the commandment is a lamp,
and the law is a light,
and the reproofs of instruction
are the way of life.

To KEEP you From the evil woman:
from the flattery of the tongue of a strange woman.
DO NOT «lust» after her beauty in your heart,
neither let her snare you with her eyes,
NOR let her captivate you with her eyelids.

For the appearance of a harlot:
is tempting like a loaf of bread,
and the adulteress hunts for the precious life.

Can a man take fire in his bosom,
and his clothes not be burned ?
Can one walk upon hot coals,
and his feet not be burned ?
So is he ——>
who goes in to his neighbor’s wife and touches her,
he shall not be innocent.

No one wonders at a thief:
when he is caught stealing,
for he steals to satisfy himself: when he is hungry,
But if he is caught, he shall pay sevenfold,
he shall give all the goods of his house.

But he who commits adultery,
with a woman = LACKs understanding,
and he destroys his own soul (nefesh: being).

And he who does it = Brings Dishonor upon himself,
and his reproach shall not be wiped out.

For jealousy provokes a man’s rage,
therefore he will not spare in the day of vengeance.

He will not regard any ransom,
nor will he listen,
though you increase the bribe.
